Training Load (TL) tracks the strain placed on the body during exercise, helping to balance fitness, recovery, and injury prevention. Each workout’s training load scores contribute to overall training load trends and compare recent efforts (short-term load) and long-term load.
Training Load Metrics:
- Perceived Effort: Measured in Effort Minutes, this score is calculated by multiplying the perceived difficulty of the workout (on a scale of 1-10) by the session duration. An estimated effort value is also calculated using heart rate data from the workout.
- TRIMP Score (Bannister Method): TRIMP is based on heart rate relative to maximum heart rate. A higher heart rate results in a higher TRIMP score, indicating the workout’s intensity.
- TSS Score (Training Stress Score): TSS is calculated using power data (or heart rate if power isn’t available). A higher TSS score reflects significant physical stress, particularly in endurance activities like running or cycling.
