Cycle Tracking lives in the Cycle tab. It's where you log your period and symptoms, see your current phase, and connect your cycle to your training, sleep, and recovery data. This guide walks through every card and setting in that view.

How Do I Log Flow and Symptoms?
Tap + Add on the Today card, or tap any date on the calendar, to log:
- Flow: None, Light, Medium, Heavy, or Spotting
- Symptoms: including options like Abdominal Cramps, Acne, Appetite Changes, Sleep Changes, Mood Changes, and Fatigue
These two log types do different jobs. Flow drives your calculations. It's what determines your cycle day, your period length, and your phase estimates. Symptoms don't affect any of those calculations. They're there to help you track patterns over time and to give Cycle Insights more context, so it's worth logging symptoms even on days you also log flow.
What Am I Looking At on the Calendar?
The calendar shows your logged days and your current phase at a glance:
- A filled dot marks a day you logged period flow
- A ring marks spotting
- A small dot marks a day with symptoms logged
- A highlighted circle marks today
- The background colour behind each date shows which phase that day falls into
A day inside your period that looks faded, without a solid dot, means FITIV counted it as part of your period based on the days around it, even though nothing was logged that specific day.
What Do My Cycle Numbers Mean?
Below the calendar, you'll see three numbers:
- Typical cycle: your average cycle length in days
- Typical period: your average period length in days
- Cycles tracked: how many full cycles FITIV has on record for you
These start as the defaults you set manually in Cycle Settings and switch over to your own averages once you've logged 2 completed cycles. The more cycles you track, the more these numbers, and your phase estimates, reflect your actual pattern instead of a general default.
What Do My Phases Mean?
Under Understanding Your Phases, you'll see all four phases with their estimated day range for your current cycle: Menstrual, Follicular, Ovulation, and Luteal.

How Do I See or Fix Past Entries?
Tap Show All Cycle Logs to see every logged day in one place. From there you can add a missed entry, or edit and delete a past one.
| ⚠️ Alert tip: This is source-based, not location-based. Any day you logged in FITIV can be edited from the Today card, the calendar, or Show All Cycle Logs. A day logged through another app carries the Apple Health icon and can't be edited in FITIV anywhere, since HealthKit doesn't allow it. |
What Can I Change in Cycle Settings?
Tap the settings icon in the Cycle tab to adjust three things:
Cycle Status
Set your status to Regular cycle, Hormonal contraceptives, Pregnant, Lactating, Perimenopause, or Menopause. Your status changes how FITIV calculates your cycle days and phases, so keep it updated as your situation changes. FITIV tracks through all of these stages, not just a regular monthly cycle.
Cycle Length
Set your typical cycle and period length manually. FITIV uses these until it has 2 completed cycles of your own history, then switches over automatically and these fields become read-only.
Cycle Insights
Turn Cycle Insights on or off. Basic logging works either way.

FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions
Does logging symptoms change my phase estimate?
No. Only flow, and marking "None," affects your calculated cycle day, period length, and phases. Symptoms add context for tracking patterns and for Cycle Insights, but don't change the math.
Why does my period length include a day I didn't log?
A short gap inside your period is still counted as part of it and shown faded on the calendar, rather than treated as the end of your period.
Can I edit a day logged in another app?
No. If a day already has data from Apple Health through another app, it carries the Apple Health icon and can't be edited in FITIV. Edit it in the original app or in Apple Health directly.
