FITIV connects directly to Garmin Connect™. If you train with a Garmin® watch, FITIV reads your workouts, sleep and daily metrics and turns them into clear recovery and training guidance.
What is the Garmin Connect™ integration?
The Garmin Connect™ integration is a direct connection between your Garmin® account and FITIV. You sign in with Garmin® once, and FITIV reads the data your watch collects.
The connection is read-only. FITIV reads from Garmin Connect™ but does not write workouts or metrics back to Garmin®.
| ℹ️ Pro Tip: The Garmin Connect™ integration requires a FITIV Pro membership. |
What Garmin® data does FITIV read?
With Garmin Connect™ connected, FITIV reads:
- Workouts recorded on your Garmin® watch, including running dynamics like vertical oscillation, stride length and ground contact time.
- Sleep data, including sleep stages.
- Overnight HRV and resting heart rate, on watches that measure them.
- Daily metrics like steps, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood oxygen.
FITIV uses this data to power workout analytics for every session and recovery insights based on your sleep and body data.
| ℹ️ Pro Tip: Recovery insights need a few nights of sleep data to set your personal baseline. Keep wearing your Garmin® watch, especially overnight. |
How do I connect Garmin Connect™ to FITIV?
- Open FITIV on your iPhone.
- Tap the More tab (•••), then tap Garmin Connect.
- Tap Connect. A Garmin® page opens at connect.garmin.com.
- Sign in with the Garmin® account linked to your watch, if asked.
- On Control the information you share, keep Activities and Daily Health Stats turned on, then tap Save.
- On Connect with FITIV Workout and Health Tracker?, tap Agree.
- FITIV returns to the Garmin Connect screen and starts syncing.
| ℹ️ Pro Tip: Garmin® data starts flowing from the moment you connect. Activity and metrics from before that point do not come in. |
Already syncing Garmin® through Apple Health?
If Garmin Connect™ already writes workouts to Apple Health, turn that off to avoid duplicates. FITIV saves workouts it imports from Garmin Connect™ to Apple Health, so the same workout doesn't arrive twice.
- Open the Apple Health app.
- Tap your Profile icon in the top-right corner.
- Tap Apps, then select Garmin Connect.
- Turn off Workouts in the data Garmin Connect is allowed to write.
ℹ️ Pro Tip: Each workout in the History tab shows the source it synced from, and the History tab duplicate filters help you hide repeated workouts. |
Can I track live heart rate in FITIV with my Garmin® watch?
Yes. The Garmin Connect™ integration syncs your data after the fact. For live heart rate during a workout you start in FITIV, you can broadcast heart rate from your Garmin® watch like a Bluetooth sensor. Follow Guide: How to Broadcast Garmin® Heart Rate to FITIV for that setup.
What if my Garmin® data is not syncing?
Most sync issues come down to the account or permissions. Check these first:
- Make sure you signed in with the same Garmin® account your watch uses.
- Open the Garmin Connect™ app so your watch syncs its latest data.
- Remember that only data recorded after you connected comes in.
- Disconnect Garmin Connect in FITIV, connect again and keep Activities and Daily Health Stats turned on.
- Update FITIV and Garmin Connect™ to the latest version.
Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Q: Why do I see the same workout twice?
A: This usually happens when Garmin Connect™ also writes workouts to Apple Health. Turn off workout writing for Garmin Connect in Apple Health, as shown above, and use the History tab duplicate filters to hide repeats.
Q: Can I see my older Garmin® history in FITIV?
A: No. FITIV receives Garmin® data from the moment you connect onward. Earlier activity stays in Garmin Connect™.
Q: Can FITIV start workouts directly on my Garmin® watch?
A: No. Workouts you record on your Garmin® watch sync to FITIV through Garmin Connect™. To record a workout in FITIV with your Garmin® heart rate, follow Guide: How to Broadcast Garmin® Heart Rate to FITIV.
Q: How do I disconnect Garmin Connect™?
A: Go to More tab (•••) > Garmin Connect and tap DISCONNECT. You can also remove FITIV's access anytime from your Garmin Connect™ account settings.
